"The most important thing is how the horse feels about you."                  -Isaac Johnson
The "Academy"

Isaac has thought of ways to share what he has learned from years of traveling down the road with his mentor, Buck Brannaman. This unique opportunity has given him the ability to be completely immersed in horsemanship, and wanting to give a similar opportunity to others. The idea came to create an academy where a select number of individuals can immerse themselves for an extended period of time. How do these individuals support themselves financially while in the program? Isaac's idea was to have each person receive a stipend for their time in the academy. This will allow that next generation of aspiring horsemen and horsewomen the opportunity to reach the next level of their journey, while not sacrificing financially. The individuals approved in the academy will be assigned a number of horses to work with during their enrollment. The horses will range from starting young horses, educating older horses, helping troubled horses, and every horse in-between. This gives each participant experience with a wide range of horses under the supervision and guidance of experienced horsemen. It will be a fun learning environment where we live, breath, eat, and sleep all things horsemanship. Our desire is that you leave Rockin X a better horse person and go on to have a positive impact on the equine industry.

Kit Johnson

Kit grew up on a cattle ranch in North Dakota and began riding when she was very young. Her passion has always been riding and competing on her young horses and diving deep into understanding the horse. She graduated from Healing Spirits Massage School in Boulder, CO, where the skills she learned paralleled with working with horses. Nonverbal communication and tuning into the energy you give off are some skills she paid close attention to.

Starting in high school, Kit began riding horses for the public, and getting her hands on as many horses as she could. Over the years she has worked for some of the best performance horse programs in the country starting two-year-olds and competing on their stallions and top prospects. Her journey of becoming a better horsewoman led her to meeting Isaac at a Buck Brannaman clinic. Together the have big goals in the equine industry.

At Rockin X, Kit will be assisting in the academy, managing the media, and coordinating with horse owners and participants.

Meet the Team
Isaac Johnson

Isaac grew up in Huntsville, Utah, where he and his siblings enjoyed all outdoor activities including skiing, water skiing, lacrosse, riding horses, and helping their neighbors do ranch work. After high school, Isaac went on a two-year mission for his church in Southern California. While there, he got a lot of experience interacting with people and became fluent in speaking Spanish. When he returned from his mission, he played lacrosse for the University of Utah and then graduated from Montana State University with a bachelor's degree in Business Management. During his time at MSU, Isaac played a major role in helping in the colt starting program.

Along with that, he pursued his dream of being a cowboy and went to work at the Padlock Ranch near Sheridan, Wyoming. While working on the Padlock, he met horseman, Buck Brannaman. From that moment, Isaac's interest in horsemanship grew into a passion. For over a decade, he has worked for Buck traveling across the world doing horsemanship clinics. This has allowed him to be immersed in the art of horsemanship and work a large number of horses under the supervision of Buck. Isaac's dream is to be able to help the next generation of aspiring horsemen and horsewomen.
